Experience the Feeling of a Beautifully Straight Smile!
When you struggle with misalignment, crowded teeth, teeth with spaces, or bite problems you often end up smiling less, which can make it difficult to build relationships, express your personality, or really feel like you.
Here at PFD, we want to provide you the best dentistry possible by making it less stressful and more personal. More importantly, we want to provide you with customised care that restores your self-confidence and gives you back the beautiful, elegant smile you deserve.
Invisalign vs Braces
Invisalign vs. Braces is one of the most common questions asked at our dental office. Here are some basic differences:
Invisalign | Braces | |
---|---|---|
Basics | Virtually invisible aligners | Metal brackets and wires |
Hygiene | Removable for easy brushing and flossing | Require more care when brushing and flossing; requires more frequent dental cleanings |
Eating | Removable for eating; no restrictions | Eating restrictions so brackets and wires don’t pop off |
Visibility | Practically invisible, most people have no idea you’re wearing them | Very visible, but with fun customizable colors |
Comfort | Smooth, comfortable plastic aligners | Wires and brackets can sometimes poke and irritate lips/cheeks |
Convenience | Fewer adjustments and emergencies; simple quick appointments | More frequent appointments with higher possibility of broken brackets |
Patient Compliance | Must keep the aligners in 22+ hours a day for effectiveness | Must be diligent about brushing and flossing so gum infections and cavities do not occur; more frequent dental cleanings required; must be compliant about diet so brackets and wires don’t pop off |
Two great options – which one is right for you?
Both Invisalign and braces can help you get the healthy and fantastic smile you’re looking for, but which one is right for you? There are patients who come to our office who just want braces – they’re friends have braces, they want the colors, they want to have the braces experience. For these patients, braces are the right option, because it’s the option they want. There are other patients who know that they won’t be good about wearing aligners, but they want to straighten their teeth. For these patients, braces are probably the best option since aligners won’t work if you don’t wear them (although I think they would find that wearing aligners is easier than they think). For everyone else, the advantages of Invisalign make it hands down the best choice for their or their child’s orthodontic treatment.
